Antique Victorian Amethyst Half Hoop Ring
An exquisite heirloom from the early Victorian era, circa 1840-1850, this ring features amethysts arranged in an arc as a five-stone design. They are beautifully faceted and match perfectly in vibrant violet purple. The ring has a closed back. The entire ring, including the faceting of the amethysts, would have been handworked. Aesthetic influences from the earlier Georgian period are evident in this early Victorian piece. Crafted in rich 18k gold, its cut-down collet setting, pommel-detailed gallery, and reeded band represent some of the aesthetic choices of the earlier period. Spanning 63 years, the Victorian era witnessed numerous stylistic evolutions that reflected the changes in taste. This is a lovely statement ring, large and impressive, with beautiful color and luminosity.
In fine antique condition, showing wear, keeping with age and use. There is a tiny nick on one of the end stones, but this small battle scar of time is not noticeable unless one looks for it. It does not detract from the ring's stunning presentation. Gently cleaned and ready to wear. Box for display only and not included in the ring purchase.
◆Materials: Amethyst, 18k gold
◆Gems: Amethyst
◆Measurements: Band width at widest 6.5mm; back of the band 2mm

Antique and vintage jewelry are sold as is. They are pre-owned and will bear signs of wear commensurate with their age, which may or may not have been stated in the product description. Metal surfaces could have light marks or scratches, and rings may be out of round. The stones, too, could have surface wear or sometimes chips. Evidence of repair could also present itself as imperfections, due to the general techniques and instruments available at the time.
