Designed as an oval concave panel, a cluster of Old Mine Cut diamonds “floating” in the center creates visual interest set against the alternating rows of Calibre Cut sapphires and Rose Cut diamonds. The contrast between the bright, radiant diamonds and the velvety blue sapphires is stunning. There is a geometric element in the design, foreshadowing the Art Deco era which would emerge ten or so years after this ring’s debut. However, small bow details studded with diamonds remind us that this was a beauty created very much during the heart of the Edwardian period. The ring would have been crafted entirely by hand c.1907. It’s a lovely ring that would make the most imaginative engagement ring as well as a stylish right hand ring.

The focus of this ethereal antique Russian bangle is the rectangular emerald-cut amethyst that is set on a bias. The amethyst has a deep, vivid purple tone and wonderful transparency that draws the eye. It is likely of Siberian origin, considered the highest grade and rare because the deposits are now exhausted. It’s hard to miss the wonderfully detailed and meticulous metalwork surrounding it – the delicate prongs and the scrollwork. The tulip motifs next to the diamonds date this piece to the 1870s. The thin rolled wire detailing lines the edges of the bangle, adding texture and rich visual display. The side Old Mine cut diamonds add a lovely contrast to the velvety purple.

The hinged bangle, handcrafted in a slightly rose toned 14k, has acquired a deep antique patina over the years and looks lovely by itself or layered with other bangles and chain bracelets.

Preserved in excellent antique condition, with light wear consistent with age and use. There is a minor, very shallow depression in the inner band, which is invisible when worn and has no impact on its beauty or functionality. This antique late Edwardian era cigar band crafted in deep golden 18k has a striking presence on the hand. It’s a wide, cigar band that was likely a man’s ring back in the day, but today it has a modern look with a unisex vibe. In the center rests a bright, twinkling Old European cut diamond, set in a well defined eight-point starburst setting. The diamond is flush set to the band and is well protected as a result. With the closure of the Chester Assay office in 1962, this piece, with its full, crisp English hallmarks from that office, has become even more collectible. It checks all the boxes for an heirloom - history, timeless beauty, and collection value.
