Antique Victorian Natural Saltwater Pearl and Old Mine Diamond Daisy Ring

$1,850.00

Authentic antique English Victorian handcrafted daisy ring, with an Old Mine diamond center and natural saltwater pearls surround, from ca.1899. The chunky Old Mine diamond is a classic old cut stone, beautifully hand cut with a tall crown, deep pavilion, broad facets, and an open culet, details of which are discernible even in this diminutive scale.

The plump, lustrous ivory white pearls of uniform size are arranged as a ring around the diamond for a floral, “daisy” face. They are well matched and have excellent orient and sheen with very few pit marks and blemishes. Natural saltwater pearls, found in pearl oysters, were rare back then and continue to remain so today, perhaps becoming even more extinct with climate change. The marriage of pearls and diamonds is one of the most perfect of gem unions. Our daisy is set low to the hand with a crown gallery in its original 18k, having acquired a soft warm golden patina over the years. It’s romantic and truly swoon-worthy.

The ring is in excellent antique condition, remarkably preserved, especially given it is more than 120  years old. Gently cleaned and ready to wear. The box is for display only and is not included in the ring purchase.
