Antique Victorian Oval Cabochon Turquoise Ring
This is a graceful antique Victorian era (1837-1901) ring, comprised of five natural, untreated oval cabochon turquoise stones that graduate in size. The turquoise stones are very well matched in color, of Robin's Egg blue. Crafted in 18k gold, they are claw set to an open gallery, and the shoulders taper to a simple band. This is beautiful and delicate, yet substantial enough to look great on its own. It would also look lovely worn with other rings, complementing them, adding a pop of color.
Victorian jewelry is known to have used symbols to convey meaning to the wearer, and as a stone long said to be a talisman, a turquoise ring would have been believed to protect the wearer from harm. Some say that the sky blue turquoise most commonly used during the Victorian era was associated with Forget-Me-Nots, which in floriography communicates true love.
In excellent antique condition, showing light wear consistent with age and wear. Gently cleaned and ready to be enjoyed. Ring box for display only and not included in the ring purchase.
