Antique Victorian Turquoise Ring

$1,100.00

Fine craftsmanship is evident in this period ring. It’s a marvelous work of art that presents a sense of time, history, and beauty. Dating to the latter half of the 19th century, this exquisite Robin’s Egg blue turquoise is set with delicate prongs. It’s an English piece with hand chased shoulders bearing a foliate motif through which a pair of Forget-Me-Nots gazes at the admirer. The scalloped edges of the band suggest movement, as though ribbons unfurling.

In floriography, Forget-Me-Not is known to symbolize true love and represent a promise to keep the special person in one’s heart. Through literature and history, we learn that Victorians were known for their sentimentalism. This particular ring was likely given as a gift with a message. It’s a dreamy piece that stirs up one’s imagination.

In fine antique condition. One of the prongs has worn down more than the others and would benefit from retipping at some point. Gently cleaned and ready to wear. The ring box is shown for display purposes only and is not included with the purchase.
